Vintage Japanese Chawan Tea Bowl, Hagi Ware
A vintage Japanese handmade chawan, tea bowl from Yamaguchi. A hagi ware piece, featuring a wide, gently flared rim and a soft, earthy texture.
The body is coated in a white, pinkish-beige glaze with a fine network of natural crackles throughout. A noticeable feature is the prominent notch cut into the bottom foot ring, known as wari-kodai (divided foot), which is a traditional detail typical of historic Hagi ware.
This piece comes with it's original tomobako (storage box), and features an artist stamp on it's base, c.1970
