A vintage Japanese chawan, a hand-crafted tea bowl used to whisk and enjoy matcha, powdered green tea.
A wide, flared shape (hira-gata) with an ivory crackle glaze and enamelled decoration. Fans, pine sprays and plum blossom branches are hand-painted in red, green and gilt across the crackled ground. Narrow foot with a maker's mark.
