Vintage Japanese Kogo, Incense Container - Quatrefoil
A lobed quatrefoil kogo, the Japanese lidded container for incense, this one vintage and sold with its inscribed wooden box and cloth wrapper.
Dark brown clay is left rough across the outside and flecked with pale grit that catches the light. Both halves are hollowed out and worked, with tooling marks left across the inner walls. A thin glaze has pooled under the lid.
