Vintage Japanese Sake Cup Set, Shino & Oribe Glazes

Five vintage Japanese sake cups in five different glazes, with a wooden box inscribed and signed by the kiln.

One cup is Shino, its milky white glaze broken by fine pinholes and touches of orange. A small footed cup in red Shino has a deep orange surface, with the white glaze gathered into raised islands. The third is Ao-Oribe: copper green is poured around the rim above a pale body painted with five iron-brown dots. Bamboo leaves are brushed in iron brown on the fourth, over a speckled grey glaze with a brown rim. The last has a flared white crackle glaze, painted with the character for sake inside a circle, and stands on a dark-glazed foot.
