A vintage Japanese ceramic tanuki statue, standing with a small slip against its chest, symbolizing trust and honesty, and a wide straw hat shading its face.
Tan glazed body with a deeper copper tone across the hat and shoulders, and green painted accents at the cord tying a small sake bottle to its hip. A Japanese character is inscribed on the slip held against the chest. The face carries a fixed, wide-eyed expression, with a rounded belly typical of the form. Some wear is visible on the glaze.
