Antique Japanese Indigo Boro Wall Hanging / Rug
This is a late Meiji period Kasuri indigo blanket.
It has worn and patched over time to create a beautiful boro piece.
Kasuri indigo dye refers to the traditional Japanese ikat (resist-dyeing) technique where yarns are bound and dyed with natural indigo before weaving to create intricate, often blurred patterns in fabric, like the famous Kurume Kasuri, a complex, multi-step process requiring fermented indigo and wood ash lye for the deep, soulful blue that ages beautifully.
Oldest patch cloth is from 1910's.
We offer delivery Australia-wide.
- Free shipping on fabric, kimono, yukata
- Free shipping on orders over $300 (furniture & large items excluded)
All our pieces are hand chosen and inspected by us - if you have any issue at all dont hesitate to get in touch so we can come to a solution.
